165-sane-quetiapine-robot-no-thought-or-emotion

Open original source ↗
I was very skeptical. It made me ridiculously drowsy, starting to gain weight, with no energy and feeling like 10% of myself, and like a robot with no thought or emotion whatsoever, a completely different and inhuman person, no sense of humour, unrecognisable. I hated it.
Cause
Anonymous first-person SANE member blog (archive dated 21 Oct 2024). Antipsychotic quetiapine prescribed after bipolar 2 diagnosis (later revoked) for mood regulation despite no psychosis. Attributes robot/no-thought-or-emotion state to quetiapine on-drug; later stopped.
Duration
On-drug stretch during psychiatry contact after bipolar assessment; later stopped quetiapine (timing of course not quantified beyond narrative). Blog posted 2024-10-21 looking back.
Recovery notes
Stopped quetiapine (and psychiatry). Reports coming back toward self after stop; later developed separate intrusive-thought problems months after stopping. Writing at blog date describes perinatal MH support and feeling somewhat more normal day to day.
